Jarrod Bowen speaks for the first time on committing his immediate future to West Ham by signing a revised contract.
Huge news in the Hammers’ hopes of winning promotion back to the Premier League at the first attempt as the 29 year old confirms he’s staying.
This comes after talks with the club’s director and major shareholder Daniel Kretínsky while out in Prague. His contract is to still run until 2030.
As per @JacobsBen, @RoshaneSport and @talkSPORT, Bowen used his summer break to consider his future, prioritising talks with West Ham to understand their vision.
Bowen said in a video posted by the club: “The main motivation for me is staying and bringing this club back into the Premier League where we belong.
“There was always going to be rumours. There’s always going to be different things going on what’s going on.
“And I think for me it was only right to speak when when the time’s right in a in a circumstances like this.
“So ultimately it hurt everyone and it should hurt everyone because it was such a disappointing thing that happened.
“But you can’t change it. You know, it doesn’t last forever. I flew out to Prague in Czech Republic to meet to meet Daniel Kretinsky, Jiri, go out and speak and the ambition that I got from from Daniel and Jiri certainly in terms of the direction the club wants to move in.
“It interests me a lot you know it didn’t take a lot for me because this club means a lot to me and as I said after the done an interview after the game and said my vision is get this club back in the Premier League.
“Been here 6 and a half years and obviously transitioned from, you know, a boy really from from the championship, you know, into a man now captain of the club, which is a huge honor.
“You know, I’d see myself in years to come as a as a die-hard West Ham fan. So, I always think what would they want as a fan if they got the opportunity to play on the pitch.
“50,000 season ticket holders in the Championship is some feat, but I think it goes to show you that loyalty that they have for the club and the love that they have for the club. they want to see their club back in the Premier League and we need everybody to be a part of that.
“It’s about what we create as a group, what environment we want to create because when you know things are ours, we have to put our arm around each other, look at our mate in the eye and know that we’re going to go again in 3 days time after a game.
“So I think there’s going to be a different pressure on us now.
“The most important thing is a desire and attitude and a winning mentality.
“And it’s good to be back here at Rush Green ready to go, pre-season has has started, the games have started, the training has started, and we’re looking forward to the first game already.
“Feel like we’re moving in the right direction as a club.
“You know, there’s a lot of thinking time over the summer and a lot of things that that go in your head.
“But for me, it’s, you know, I look in years and years to come of when I retire, what’s going to bring me the most happiness? And [music] for me now, it’s that’s getting this club back into the Premier League.”
He had plenty of support from his father-in-law Danny Dyer, who backed him to stay…
Danny Dyer gives his thoughts on England, Thomas Tuchel, West Ham and Jarrod Bowen
Following relegation, he said on Instagram: “It’s hard to post something like this when all you’re feeling is embarrassment and pain.
“I could write loads trying to explain where it all went wrong this season, but honestly what you deserve from me is an apology.
“Winning that trophy in Prague was the best night of my career. Sunday was the worst.
“We just weren’t good enough. Simple as that. And that’s why the season ended the way it did.
“To the fans, you didn’t let us down once. The support home and away never changed, even when things weren’t good enough from us on the pitch. We should have given you more. You deserved more.
“One thing I know about this club is that it has the desire and fight to bounce back from this. This club belongs in the Premier League and deserves to be back there as soon as possible.”

@Jason21Sayers: That’s the sort of thing that takes you from a great West Ham player to a legend West Ham player
@Tr1ckyTrees: LOVE. LOVE. LOVE THIS! Fair play Jarrod 👏🏻👏🏻 WALKS into most London based Premier League teams, to stay at West Ham to try and drag them back is outstanding loyalty from him, you don’t see this often anymore. That or he’s SHIT SCARED of Danny Dyer 🤔🤪 #WHUFC
