Shakur Stevenson ignited another wave of reaction across boxing Tuesday after announcing he has given up on ever fighting Devin Haney, telling fans the “door is closed” following months of public back-and-forth.
The four-division world champion delivered the message in a lengthy social media post, insisting he would no longer respond to Team Haney.
“I’m too real for fake shit. I allowed these same dudes who played bitch games wit me years ago to amp me up and get me hyped for a fight that’s not even gone happen. This my last time letting these dudes clout chase my name when at heart I just wanted a fight on the terms that was agreed on,” said Shakur on X.
“I won’t be entertaining the circus anymore. Sorry boxing and boxing fans but u will never get that fight. Door is closed… no more response from me ever again! #HIM.”
The statement quickly spread throughout the boxing community, where fans revisited the long-running negotiations that repeatedly changed course. Stevenson spent months seeking a 144-pound catchweight while also urging Haney to vacate the WBO welterweight title after Keyshawn Davis briefly became the organization’s mandatory challenger.
The Keyshawn route later disappeared when Davis declined the WBO purse bid, bringing attention back to a Stevenson-Haney showdown. Public exchanges resumed, yet the matchup remained unsigned.
Stevenson’s latest comments leave little room for further speculation. He now says the rivalry has reached its end and insists he will no longer engage with Team Haney, closing the door on a fight that many fans had hoped would eventually become one of boxing’s biggest attractions.
