Earlier this week, fans hit back at the ‘tone’ Joe Cole and Carlton Cole took in predicting Hull City for relegation from the Premier League.
In the latest episode of the The Dressing Room Podcast, the former footballers give their thoughts on who will finish in the bottom three.
And while fans fully expect Hull to be tipped for relegation, it is how it came across, the laughter, and comments, which riled viewers up, labelled it ‘disrespectful’, especially considering they’re pundits for TNT Sports.
In Hull’s win against Man Utd, the City fans were heard singing “Are you watching Joe Cole!” along with other chants, “Mauled by the Tigers” towards Man Utd and their fans.
It then got worse for United fans, when the stadium announcer announced them, that the 15.03 and 17.03 trains back to Manchester hadbeen cancelled. “You’re going home in a taxi,” Hull fans sang.

Man Utd’s Bruno Fernandes told TNT Sport:
“Same mistakes as we did last season, every away game we give too much of the ball to them.
“In the first 20 minutes, the goalkeeper was the one with the most touches.
“We needed to press more, be more aggressive, and then again we need to work on set-plays and not concede these type of goals.
“Against these types of teams, they are waiting for that moment.
“We knew before the game set-pieces would be a big part of their game. They played all pre-season with a back four but had a five against us for some height, for these moments.
“The most frustrating thing is that we lost the game.
“We knew [how motivated they would be]. If someone didn’t know, it’s very surprpsing.
“We know in the Premier League these type of grounds are very difficult to play in. You need to match everything in intensity, aggression and everything.
“We had that apart from two set pieces. That cost us the game.
“I understand the frustration. Every season that starts, we want to compete and go as forward as we can, winning every game.
“We need them on our side, like last season, believing in us. We know we need more from ourselves too.”
“Everything was very good, it’s a big boost for us” 👏

Man Utd head coach Michael Carrick on TNT Sport:
“Some of it was okay, there’s bits to improve on. It was never going to be perfect, but going behind and giving ourselves a lot to do makes it more difficult.
“It was a typical one of those games, with a newly-promoted team at home. You can’t give them much, they’ve got a lot to hold on to.
“After that, we had moments and opportunities but we didn’t have the spark to put the chances away or create any more.
“We’re bitterly disappointed with the result, but we won’t let it knock us.
“I’m not going into areas [to improve] now, it’s for us to know and we’ll improve through the week and in the games.
“When we keep getting stronger as a group, that’ll come. Today’s a game we can’t ignore, we have a lot to learn from it – but we will.
“It’s one game, the first game of the season. It hurts, of course, but it’s one game.
“It doesn’t change the direction the team or the football club is going in. We’ll stay calm and in the bubble and focus on next week.
“I had all eyes on the game today. Any other player at any other club, I won’t be commenting on.”
“Before we all went to bed, we couldn’t have dreamt it any better” 💭

Here’s how fans reacted while Hull fans cheekily mock Joe Cole and Man Utd during the Tigers’ dream return to the Prem with a 2-0 win…
@hcafc_1996: There wasn’t one bad performing player today. Every player was immense! Get some signings in to help the lads and hopefully we’ll be fine this season!
@kylehcafc: Can I just say now, the whole team has been unreal, Belloumi having his fun, looks to be dancing around players, Slater is everywhere, looking like prime Iniesta. Tzolakis so calm, no matter what type of save he has to make. Sergej is a genius, respect on his name NOW! And this is not our strongest line up by a long way, we’ve still got 5-8 players coming in with loans. We are in by no means done at all, the majority of our match day squad was there last season. We do love an opening day don’t we, last one double bicycle kick against the champions, so far we’ve played United off the park, the look exactly the same to the teams we played last season, low block system goated #hcafc
@Fx1Jonny: I can’t believe this is what we’ve produced as a 1st game back performance against newly promoted Hull. Carrick needs to fix this and fast. #MUFC
@BabsTrevor: Guarantee the back pages and pundits tomorrow will focus entirely on how poor Manchester United were, rather than giving us any credit. It’ll just be the usual ‘United were awful’ narrative. #HCAFC #HULMUN
@kevinmc23316741: WHAT A DISGRACE 🤬 2–0 TO HULL CITY! Manchester United getting beaten by a newly promoted side on the opening day is absolutely pathetic. Same old problems, same lack of fight. Embarrassing from start to finish. 🤦♂️
@notsafehands: Really tough watch this. A promoted team away from home first game of the season is not ideal but this has been so poor from United. They’ve looked absolutely clueless for large parts and not what I expected at all. Not taking anything away from hull, they’ve been brilliant.
@mercurialblonde: Game management from Hull has been fantastic. What a result for them. Don’t know how many wins they will get this year. But excellent effort and organization.
@Ginkohro: Can’t believe the biggest team with full of world classed players like MUFC as their fans said just to get humble by Mighty Hull City 👏🏻👏🏻 #EPL #HULMUN
@AfcGrey_: United fans saying “it’s only Coventry” to Arsenal fans yesterday just to then get absolutely EMBARRASSED by Hull today. From title contenders to relegation fodder in 90 minutes. The most deluded fanbase in England deserves this humbling. Beautiful.
