Northamptonshire have announced that George Bartlett has agreed a one-year contract extension, which will keep him at the club until the end of the 2027 season.

Middle-order batter Bartlett has scored 262 runs in Division Two of the County Championship this season at an average of more than 43, including an unbeaten knock of 95 in the opening fixture against Lancashire.

Bartlett, 28, is into his third season at Wantage Road having joined from Somerset, where he progressed through the academy. He has amassed almost 4,000 first-class runs over his career at an average of more than 30.

“I’m really pleased to be staying with Northamptonshire for another year,” Bartlett told the club’s website., external

“I’ve enjoyed my time at the club so far and it’s been nice to make some positive contributions this year so hopefully I can continue that throughout the rest of the season.

“Hopefully as a club as well we can push for promotion in the County Championship and get some success in the Blast too.”

Bartlett is among the top contributors with the bat in the Northants team, having passed 50 in three innings so far in the campaign, but he is yet to feature for the Steelbacks in the T20 Blast.

Head coach Darren Lehmann added: “We’ve been really impressed with George over the last six months and the changes he’s made to his game. We know he has the ability and we’re seeing important runs being made.

“He’s a very talented player that we want to keep working with because the sky is the limit for him, we just need to help him find that.”
