Sunday brings another exciting opportunity for Kent Women as we return to home action in the Vitality Blast, with Gloucestershire Women visiting the St Lawrence Ground for what promises to be an excellent day of T20 cricket.
There’s no question the group heads into this fixture in a positive place following a strong performance against Sussex last time out. It was the type of win that reflected exactly what we want this team to stand for — disciplined, together and fully committed in every phase of the game.
What pleased as a coaching group was the collective effort with the ball. T20 cricket can move quickly, but the players showed real control and composure throughout the innings, building pressure consistently and working together brilliantly as a unit. The energy in the field, the commitment to plans and the way the group backed each other in key moments all played a huge role in setting up the result.
With the bat, the opening partnership of over 100 gave us exactly the platform we were looking for. To see our top order play with both intent and intelligence was extremely encouraging, and the way they controlled the chase/set the tone early on allowed the rest of the innings to flow. Strong partnerships are such an important part of successful T20 cricket, and that stand demonstrated the trust and understanding that’s continuing to grow within this side.
That said, the challenge for us now is consistency. One good performance doesn’t define a season, but it can help build momentum if we continue approaching each game with the same standards and attitude. The players have worked hard to create a strong environment around the group, and there’s a real determination to keep improving week by week. Gloucestershire will provide another tough test. T20 cricket leaves very little margin for error, and we know we’ll need to be sharp in all areas once again.
Finally, thank you once again to everyone who has supported the team so far this season. The encouragement from Members and supporters has been outstanding. We’re continuing to build something together as a Club, and having your support behind Kent Women means a huge amount to everyone involved.

Hockers
