On Wednesday, May 27, Swindon Cricket Club will be playing host to their second showcase match of the summer as England face India in an over-40s 45-over one-day international.
Starting at midday and being free entrance for all, with no ticket needed in advance, local fans will have the opportunity to watch some stars from the past take to the field in Swindon.
The England team features Stevens, who retired after a 25-year county cricket career in 2022, and Chris Peploe, formerly of Middlesex and Berkshire, alongside a number of top county-level players from the past.
They will face an India team captained by Anand Nadir and featuring the likes of Jatin Saxena, who are presently on a tour of England, with one of their big clashes coming in Swindon.
Gates will open from 10 am, and there will be a bar and two food vendors at the ground, along with a raffle going on as there will be excitement for all.
Daniel Harris, Chair of Swindon Cricket Club, said: “It is always a really nice honour when people want to play cricket at Swindon, giving us a chance to host some of these bigger fixtures.
“It is going to be a really good standard of cricket, even if you ignore their ages, and it is a very exciting day for us.
“A lot of our Indian and Indian heritage members are excited about having an Indian team playing locally on their doorstep.
“There are no tickets required, just show up on the day, and hopefully we can have a big crowd for what should be a really exciting game.
“We are also doing some things in line with a couple of charities, particularly Prospect Hospice, where we will be looking to raise money for them.
“We are expecting a really good-sized crowd and atmosphere for that one. It is going to be a great day, with food stalls, a bar open, and the sun out; what more could you ask for?”
This match is the second showpiece game that Swindon are hosting this summer, having already welcomed Wiltshire and Glamorgan earlier in May, whilst Gloucestershire will be playing Hampshire in a second 11 match on June 23.
