Carlton Cole has come up with a transfer idea that could suit Chelsea very nicely – we wonder if it goes anywhere?

We often report on transfer rumours – it’s not often we report on transfer “ideas.” But Carlton Cole’s appearance on TalkSport with transfer expert Alex Crook got us thinking.
Cole noted that Fulham are looking for a new striker, with Raul Jimenez having left. They’re also in the hunt for a new manager, with Marco Silva set to join Benfica.
Delap could link up with old boss to revive Premier League career

Cole’s suggestion works on two levels – get Liam Delap to Fulham. Chelsea don’t want him or need him, and Fulham could be a good destination for him to get his career going again after a horrific return of two goals in all competitions in his first year at Stamford Bridge.
The sweet detail would be if Kieran McKenna takes the Craven Cottage job. McKenna is in the running for it, and was Delap’s manager at Ipswich where the striker did well.
Perhaps it’s all a little too neat – but as we ponder potential destinations for Delap, it is one that makes a lot of sense.
In other news…
Chelsea have a whole lot of housekeeping to do this summer – there are ten players who could be sold, and it’s just a question of how many buyers can be found.
The BBC have reported that Xabi Alonso has been at Cobham this week to visit the training ground where he will soon be starting work.
