“People could talk about, ‘Oh, Floyd broke and Floyd this.’ Man, even if let’s just say coincidentally Floyd broke,” Shakur said on Andre Ward’s Art of War podcast. “Floyd broke ain’t like everybody else broke, bro. Floyd broke is a different type of broke,” said Shakur to Andre Ward’s channel.

“Floyd broke is still super rich at the end of the day.

“I done sat on the phone with Floyd for hours, and in conversation I just realized like, yo, this dude is just in love with boxing,” Shakur said. “He’s obsessed with boxing.

“He probably just can’t hang the gloves up. He can’t let it go. He never really did.”

Shakur also expressed surprise at how sharp Mayweather still looks in training despite approaching 50 years old.

“Floyd past his prime is better than a lot of guys in their prime,” Shakur said. “He just knows so much, been on too many big stages.”

Mayweather, 49, has continued competing in exhibition bouts since retiring from professional boxing in 2017 with a 50-0 record.

Mayweather is scheduled to face former kickboxing champion Mike Zambidis in an exhibition bout on June 27 in Athens, Greece.

“Floyd Mayweather scares me,” Shakur said. “When I talk to him, he reminds me of me.

“I love boxing to death. I will never leave boxing. I’ll always be in or around the sport. But I’m not trying to be boxing. No. Fighting at 40 is scary work.”
