    Fans have their say on who they want as new Rochdale manager following Jim McNulty’s departure, becoming the head coach at Stockport.

    The 41 year old has signed a three-year deal, replacing Dave Challinor at Edgeley Park, leaving Dale, who he guided to League Two through the National League playoffs.

    According to Alan Nixon, League Two new boys Rochdale are reportedly interested in making former Salford City United boss Karl Robinson their new head coach, but then added when asked for an update a day later: “Not sure about Robinson’s interest in job … checking”

    But many other names have been mentioned by fans on social media…

    Football Lowdown’s @l_m_r99 suggested five managers Rochdale should consider, Karl Robinson, Andy Butler, Pete Wild, Kevin Maher and Christian Fuchs.

    bet365 meanwhile have said Karl Robinson, Andy Butler, Luke Garrard, Jason Taylor and Chris Agutter.

    Fans have their say on who they want as new Rochdale manager following Jim McNulty’s departure…

    @kian_rafc: Robinson only one I’m convinced by

    @Chris4RAFC: I want Karl Robinson

    @Will_Butts: Ian Watson would be a good fit……

    @thatseriphosi: Ian Watson. My only thought about the Robinson rumour is the club have actively said they’ve had plans for this situation. ‘We have always had succession plans.’ ‘A number of candidates have been identified.’ I can’t imagine Robinson being in their plans had he not just left Salford.

    @kevtharris: Ian Watson for me. Let’s continue the culture McNulty instilled. Someone young, energetic & tactically sound.

    @RochdaleFan: Watson is a strong candidate for sure. From what I’ve seen and heard about him I like a lot.

    @UTDale__: Karl Robinson would push us to the play-offs i rekon.

    @stphnpc: Craig Mahon for me

    @RochdaleFan: I have my concerns if I’m honest with how his style of play and personality would work with our current players.

    @misterdickinson: Id really like to see Luke Garrard, but I can’t see that would happe

    @RochdaleFan: I would love Garrard, but think given he has just signed a 3 year contract A) he will be too expensive and B) I doubt he would come.

    @MichaelCaponee: I agree with all of these but with burchnall didn’t he recently turn down the Rotherham job so it not too sure if he’d take us

    @RochdaleFan: He did turn them down, and Rotherham are a bigger club than us but I think currently Rochdale are more of an exciting project, which could interest him.

    @olly9908: Pete Wild or Karl Robinson. Either one would be excellent appointments for Rochdale

    @NathanAsh66: So Challinor is available… 👀 #rafc

    @UpTheDale2: Pep In. Can play golf at Hopwood and we play City’s style. #RAFC

    @AdamG_RAFC: Karl robinson give him what he wants

    @rhysclough: Challinor missed out on the Blackburn job? Almost inexplicably optimistic, but #rafc tickle your fancy, Dave?

    @lmpercy1: Pay for Garrard and get him to bring Brunt and Abdulmalik with him

    @mcquillansean: Pete Wild ? Should of got the job before stockdale and BBM but had to give it BBM at the time really

    @rh0de5: Would take a punt on Craig Mahon at Fylde. Did amazing at Curzon before that and obviously just take the coasters up as well.

    @ScottMitch10040: Surely Hinselwood is the natural fit given your style of play?

    @AndyDale11: An experienced League 1/2 manager is what we should be looking for. I wouldn’t be looking to go down the inexperienced route again, we did that with Robbie Stockdale and look at where we ended up after the mess that Jim Bentley wasn’t good enough to clear up.

    Kevin Harris: Challinor if at all possible but doubtful. If not, I’d go for someone like Ian Watson. A young progressive manager that reportedly plays a possession based, aggressive style. Allow him to build on the culture McNulty brought.

    Ian Hart: Challinor for me. Not Robinson. We need a manager to stabilise us this season

    Wild Stephen: Dave Flitcroft would get us playing quick passing attacking football like when we were last in league one exiting football

    Andy O’Donnell: Challinor if we can get him.

    John Lewis: Only 1 for me – Dave Challinor.

    Michael Wildish: I’m thinking Karl Robinson but been hearing Kevin Maher or Craig Mahon

    Rod Herd: We’d certainly see a difference in style if he was appointed. I’d rather see Challinor appointed but Robinson would be a close second.

    David Parkinson: As a Salford Supporter I am gutted to see Karl go. If he does go to Rochdale. You will be right up there at the end of the season. Good Luck KR.

    Helen Whittaker: Robinson for me, or maybe Challinor, definitely not Hill – remember his many rants aimed at the fans.

    Lee Percy: Would love Garrard can’t see it though as just signed a new contract

    John Lewis: After Jim’s softly softly approach to the players not sure what they’d make of Robinson’s yelling and bawling! 😲
