Fans have started comparing Blake Monroe’s SmackDown rollout to one of WWE’s most famous debut teases. The name in the question is none other than former WWE star Veer Mahaan.
For several weeks, WWE has been airing “coming soon” videos for Monroe ahead of her move to SmackDown. While many fans are excited to see her on the main roster, many have also become impatient with the slow build and have taken to social media to joke about it.
WWE fans turned Blake Monroe and Veer Mahaan into the same running joke
The situation feels quite similar to Veer Mahaan’s long-awaited WWE debut. Many fans noted that company spent months teasing Mahaan’s arrival on RAW and is now doing something similar with Monroe on SmackDown.
One user wrote that Monroe had become “the new Veer Mahaan,” while another joked that her weekly video packages were starting to rival Veer’s famous countdown and said WWE should just debut her already.
The jokes come from a long-running wrestling meme about repeatedly promoting a superstar’s arrival without actually bringing them onto TV right away.
Before joining WWE, Monroe was in AEW. After signing with WWE, she was sent to NXT, where she became one of the top stars. After WrestleMania 42, WWE began preparing fans for her move to SmackDown. Instead of debuting her immediately, she was hyped through a series of promotional videos. Moreover, she has been calling out one superstar after another, like Charlotte Flair, Tiffany Stratton, Rhea Ripley, and, recently, Giulia.
Apart from that, Monroe just competed in a dark match against Jordynne Grace and later appeared in a backstage segment with Chelsea Green for a few seconds.
Veer became an internet sensation in late 2021 and early 2022 when WWE repeatedly aired “Veer is Coming to RAW” videos for more than five months. The running joke became so popular that many fans followed the countdown more for the memes than for Veer himself.
