Summer Rae has instigated speculation about an in-ring return after sharing a pair of Instagram Stories showing herself back in wrestling gear. The former WWE Superstar hasn’t competed since 2022. Moreover, her latest posts have fans wondering if she’s preparing to lace up the boots again.
Rae, real name Danielle Moinet, first caught attention after posting a video of herself pulling up her boots and adjusting her gear. A second Story showed her fully dressed for the ring and posing for the camera.
There has been no confirmation that Rae is planning a comeback, but the timing quickly fueled the speculation. The posts arrived only hours after Carmella seemingly confirmed her own in-ring retirement, adding another layer to the conversation surrounding former WWE stars returning or stepping away.
Rae has previously made it clear that she remains open to wrestling again. In July, she told Gunman Boxing TV that she misses WWE every day and would love the opportunity to work with the company again.
Summer Rae’s WWE career and potential in-ring return
Rae signed with WWE in 2011 and began in FCW before moving into NXT when the brand launched in 2012. She made her main roster debut in 2013 as Fandango’s dance partner before moving into other alliances and storylines.
During her WWE run, Rae worked programs involving Natalya and Emma and also managed talents including Rusev and Tyler Breeze. She left WWE in 2017 after spending time away from action because of injuries.
Following her WWE departure, Rae wrestled two matches for BCW in 2019 before returning for the Women’s Royal Rumble in January 2022. That appearance remains her most recent in-ring bout.
Rae has also spoken about the physical toll of wrestling, explaining that back issues made it difficult to get out of bed and led to an MRI. She attributed the problems to the punishment her body endured throughout her wrestling career.
For now, Rae has only teased fans with her Instagram posts. No return has been officially announced, but if the boots are coming back on, wrestling fans may soon find out whether Summer Rae is ready for another run between the ropes.
