Endrick believes it is “the law of football” that things will be tough in his career, but the teenager is determined to overcome adversity like his idol, Cristiano Ronaldo.

After struggling for minutes under Xabi Alonso at Real Madrid earlier in the season, Endrick moved to Lyon on loan for the second half of the 2025-26 campaign.

The 19-year-old scored eight goals and provided eight assists in 21 games for Lyon across all competitions, helping them finish fourth in the league.

Following his first game for Lyon, he has directly contributed to the sixth-most goals among Ligue 1 players across all competitions.

Although Lyon showed interest in completing another loan deal for the Brazil international, he seems to be focused on breaking into Los Blancos’ starting line-up.

Endrick is looking to follow in the footsteps of Madrid legend Ronaldo, who he believes is a great example of work ethic and talent.

“It’s going to be tough; it always is. That’s the law of football,” Endrick told GQ Brazil.

“Wanting to work hard from an early age is something I have in common with Cristiano Ronaldo, but I don’t admire him just for his work ethic.

“He has tremendous talent and an inspiring story of overcoming adversity when he was young.

“If you’re in the middle of a season, you can’t do things that will set you back. It’s going to be tough; it always is. That’s the law of football.”
