Dave Allen got back to winning ways with a four-round decision victory over Ross McGuigan in Rotherham, England.
The popular heavyweight was fighting for the first time since his third round stoppage defeat to Filip Hrgovic on May 16. Allen was beaten handily by Hrgovic that night and pulled out by his corner after three one-sided rounds. Allen announced shortly after that he would make a quick turnaround, announcing two dates including tonight’s and another bout on July 26 in Doncaster, England.
Should Allen add another victory to his now 26-9-2 (20 KOs) record, he will look to land another big fight and payday. There was an offer for Allen to fight on the undercard of Katie Taylor’s swansong at Dublin’s Croke Park in September. Allen has since declined that offer and there are now talks of Allen taking on Misfits heavyweight Chase DeMoor.
