When a prizefighter suddenly discovers how much he misses his family immediately following a two-round blitzing, his spirit is gone. Fighting is the only business where having one foot out the door gets a man seriously hurt, and Benn is practically standing in the hallway with his coat on.

“Everybody keeps asking ‘What’s next for Conor Benn?’ The truth is, I don’t have the answer,” Benn posted on X. “But giving everything comes at a cost. And the people who have paid that cost more than anyone are my family and my kids. They’ve sacrificed time with their Dad so I could chase this dream. They’ve had to share me with this sport their entire lives. So when people ask me what’s next for Conor Benn, right now the answer is simple. Time with my kids.”

A trilogy with Chris Eubank Jr remains on the table because UK audiences reliably buy family names regardless of substance. Yet another pay-per-view against Eubank does not rebuild Benn’s shattered reputation. It is just an expensive rerun between two sons living off their fathers’ glory days, neither of whom looks equipped to touch a genuine world belt.

Beyond the domestic cash grabs, Benn’s road is blocked. Putting him in the ring with true contenders at 160 or 168 pounds would be dangerous matchmaking. Even testing him against mid-tier bangers carries serious hazard now, because the blueprint to dismantle him is out in the open. Taking heavy damage for mid-level money against hungry contenders makes zero business sense for a guy who already banked massive purses.

At 160 pounds, Benn has no business being in the ring with real punchers. He spent his prime years building an image on aggressive talk, favorable matchmaking, and endless hype. Ryan stripped all the paint off the vehicle in under six minutes. Now that opponents see Benn folds the second real speed and explosive power come back at him, the entire division would queue up to take his head off. Even marginal top-15 middleweights would fancy their chances of walking through him for a career-best win.

Walking away now preserves his health and a fat bank account. If he refuses to see the writing on the wall, he risks suffering another brutal knockout against an unheralded opponent on an undercard somewhere, with no hype machine left to bail him out. He got paid, he found his ceiling, and getting out clean beats taking pointless punishment.

The smartest move Benn could possibly make is retiring now. That would be my advice. He made a ton of money out of the sport without ever having to win a world title, out-earning legitimate champions through surname value and promotional muscle. Sticking around only means taking worse beatings for smaller checks against anonymous contenders who won’t hesitate to finish the job Ryan started. He got away with the bank heist; going back into the vault now is just asking to get caught.
