Chelsea’s midfield target for this summer have been pretty clear for a while. Adam Wharton and Alex Scott have both been talked about a lot, and there have been at the very least preliminary moves for each of them from the Blues.
But our writer Simon Phillips has an exclusive report which adds a third name to the list of dynamic, Premier League experienced central midfielders we’re looking at: Carlos Baleba of Brighton.
Phillips says his “top source” has told him that Chelsea are “big admirers” and have him on a “consideration list” for the summer.

Just a year ago, this would have felt an impossible move. Baleba’s price was at its peak, and Manchester United were front of the queue anyway. But a patchy year has seen his star fade and his price tag drop a little. He’d still cost big money, but there’s the sense of an opportunity.
