Charlie Austin speaks out after being rejected from first coaching job by his former club Queens Park Rangers.
He posted a tweet on the 2nd of August, with it since getting over 3,600 likes and hundreds of comments. He even made the back pages of newspapers.
Charlie wrote: “First job interview disappointment 😅 Gutted not to progress to the next stage for @QPRAcademy coaching team. The club I really wanted to work with. Will keep working hard and hoping my time will come 🙏 Good luck to whoever lands the role, what a club you get to join!”
Andy Peel (@peelios) said: “I feel that the reason you have posted this is to get a reaction due to you previously playing for them. Welcome to the real world, maybe you just didn’t interview well enough. Brush up on those interview skills I say.”
Charlie Austin replied: “No hidden agenda. Just honest disappointment at missing out on a role at a club I think highly of. Nothing but respect for QPR, the process was fair and professional, everyone was great. As I said will keep working hard for my time to come! This just weren’t my time”

Charlie Austin replied: “They could. That’s why I’ve coached kids for the last 3 years whilst doing my C and then B license. Name can only get you so far Nobby, gotta work hard to try get what you want 🙏 don’t stop believing and all that!”

Charlie Austin has gone further in breaking silence after his tweet got plenty of attention, talking on it in a video on The Charlie Austin Football Channel.
He said: “Yeah, to clear it up. I didn’t do anything like for it. I just I put a tweet out there. It was mainly for… listen, I love doing the podcast. I love doing TV. I love doing the radio. Like I really really enjoy that. But also, I wouldn’t mind dipping me hand in at the coaching if the opportunity come along, right? But not every time it does.
“So, opportunity come at QPR. I apply for it. Apply for the job and and um and didn’t get it. No problem.
“But my tweet was about letting people know that I’m not just interested in doing the media stuff. If there is stuff to be done on the grass, then I would I would like to do it.
“And then people have just gone on gone on with it. Like people saying, “Oh, job for the boys.” No, listen. I didn’t do anything. There was no agenda to it.
“And if you think I’ve got an agenda towards my football club, then you clearly don’t know me. You clearly don’t know what the football club means to me and my wife and me and my family. And if that is your thoughts, then me and you are clearly not on the same wavelengths.
“And I got to be honest with you, I think that’s about all I need to say on it, Pete, if I’m honest. Because anyone that don’t think… anyone that thinks that I had an agenda behind my tweet, then like I say, me and you ain’t on the same page.”
