Channing “Stacks” Lorenzo was sent to the hospital after a scary incident brought the October 16 NXT live event in Sudbury, Ontario to a sudden stop.
Stacks was working the main event as part of Birthright against Tony D’Angelo, Tavion Heights, Shiloh Hill and Shawn Spears when things went wrong on a move to the floor.
The match was stopped after Stacks came down badly following what was described as a backdrop or similar spot over the top rope. Medical personnel immediately got involved, and the situation was serious enough that Stacks was ultimately taken to the hospital.
Bryan Alvarez provided the update on Wrestling Observer, making it clear that Stacks was being evaluated after the incident.
“Stacks is in the hospital following an incident that happened at an NXT house show. The unconfirmed report is that he took a backdrop or something over the top to the floor, landed bad and the match was stopped. All the best to him.”
The referee also threw up the “X” signal after the fall, which is used to call for medical attention when something has gone wrong during a match. A stretcher was brought out while Stacks was being checked at ringside, and the main event did not continue.
There is still no confirmed word on exactly what Stacks injured or how serious the injury may be. The key update is that he was taken to the hospital after the fall, making this much more than just a routine stoppage at a house show. For now, the focus is on Stacks and whatever comes next after a brutal landing ended the show early and sent him straight to the hospital for further evaluation. Ringside News will continue to provide updates as they become available.
