Can Haaland throw the hammer down on Brazil?

Sunday night features a cracker in the 2026 FIFA World Cup last 16 as Brazil take on Norway in New Jersey. This clash takes place at the MetLife Stadium, where the final will also be held on July 19, and both sides are creeping up Paddy’s list of favourites to go on and win the trophy.

Erling Haaland and Vinicius Junior have stepped up for their countries so far in the tournament and the duo will go head to head once again here in the race for the quarters.

The pair are also right in the mix to win the Golden Boot, and ahead of one of them being eliminated on Sunday, PP News tipster Feargal Brennan has three Haaland/Vini Jr featured bets as part of our #Whatoddspaddy market – so, let’s get those Brazil v Norway tips!

Haaland to foul Gabriel & Gabriel to foul Haaland

Before we get into Haaland vs. Vini Jr, we ABSOLUTELY have to look at Haaland vs. Gabriel! To say these two don’t like each other is one heck of an understatement

Haaland has scored in each of his last four Man City games against Gabriel’s Arsenal – alongside bouncing the ball off his head a few times along the way – and in the build up to this game, he claimed Gabriel will be ‘working overtime’ to try and stop him.

In Haaland’s eight club clashes against Gabriel, he’s given away just under two fouls per match on average, with the Arsenal defender winning a rate of 1.5 per 90 minutes when the Gunners have faced City.

Haaland has given away two fouls in two of his three World Cup games so far, and despite Gabriel being relatively unflustered up o this point, these two love a crack at each other in a big game.

Vini Jr to score first for Brazil & Haaland to score first for Norway

OK, let’s back to Vini Jr. Haaland has the slight edge on him coming into this game after he scored the winner in the Round of 32 victory over Ivory Coast to move onto five goals in North America with Vini still on four from the group stage.

Real Madrid’s No.7 has opened the scoring in two of Brazil’s four matches, in wins over Morocco and Scotland. Haaland has only been first off the mark once so far at this World Cup – but against their toughest opponent so far – Norway made need him to speed up a bit!

Brazil to win, Vini Jr to score or assist, Haaland 2+ shots on target & Casemiro to be carded

Norway’s first World Cup since 1998 has gone pretty well so far, aside from a rotated team losing their final group game to France, with knockout stage progression already wrapped up.

Even with Haaland in their ranks, the sense is Brazil and Carlo Ancelotti will have too much, with Vini right at the heart of it for the Samba Boys. In three games, Haaland has hit two shots on target in all three and should do the same here.

In case Brazil need a little dark arts on the night, Casemiro will be happy to oblige in Brazil’s midfield, with at least one foul committed in all of Brazil’s games. He’s also been booked twice – against Morocco and Japan – but he’s not a suspension risk for the quarters if he’s cautioned here.
