The EFL Championship table shows merely six points covering the top nine teams and Tony Incenzo looks at Saturday’s biggest matches for William Hill News.

So there is everything to play for going into another appetising round of weekend fixtures. Consequently, football betting odds are well worth scrutinising.

    Championship Predictions Today:

    • QPR vs Swansea to end a draw (11/5)
    • Southampton to win (16/5)
    • Birmingham to win (7/5)
    • West Brom to win (19/20)

Here is my analysis of the pairings I am most looking forward to most alongside considered score predictions to assist your Championship betting…

Queens Park Rangers v Swansea City Prediction

    • Kick-off: 3pm
    • Rankings: 9th versus 1st

Queens Park Rangers preview – Perched just outside the coveted Play-Off zone on goal difference. QPR’s five match unbeaten sequence ended abruptly via last weekend’s 3-0 reverse at Birmingham City. Influential star men Madsen, Burrell and Lamptey are all out injured until November’s international break.

Swansea City preview – Four consecutive victories were halted by last Saturday’s 1-0 home defeat against West Ham United. Previously it had been Swansea’s best start to a League season in 103 years. Still enjoying a one point buffer whilst reflecting on four EFL wins spanning five away trips to date.

    Score prediction: Rip-roaring 3-3.

West Ham United v Southampton Prediction

    • Kick-off: 3pm
    • Rankings: 2nd versus 8th

West Ham United preview – One point shy of first place. The highly fancied Hammers stay unconquered across nine Championship matches. I felt that aforementioned 1-0 triumph at leaders Swansea City was a real statement of intent. Also divisional foremost scorers racking up 30 goals.

Southampton preview – Five points behind Saturday’s hosts thanks to four wins inside six attempts. Only one away victory amid five EFL road excursions thus far though.

    Score prediction: Saints smiling 2-1.

Cardiff City v Birmingham City Prediction

    • Kick-off: 3pm
    • Rankings: 19th versus 4th

Cardiff City preview – Three points above the dreaded dotted line following two undefeated games. Yet to lose at home throughout five 2026/27 EFL engagements (two wins, three draws). They’ve picked up maximum points in the last two Cardiff City Stadium assignments with eight goals scored by the Bluebirds.

Birmingham City preview – Blues assembling a five match unbeaten run winning the past three without conceding. Therefore two points to make up on the automatic promotion slots.

    Score prediction: Blues bossy 3-1.

Preston North End v West Bromwich Albion Prediction

    • Kick-off: 3pm
    • Rankings: 24th versus 5th

Preston North End preview – Five points adrift of safety compounded by three straight defeats conceding nine times. North End’s solitary Championship victory was 2-1 versus visitors Blackburn Rovers on Saturday 5th September. So boss Graham Alexander remains winless beyond his appointment nearly a month ago.

West Bromwich Albion preview – Two successive wins (coming from behind on both occasions) move Albion two points off automatic promotion contention.

Score prediction: West Brom worthy 1-0.

Rest of the EFL Championship score predictions for Saturday:

    • Charlton Athletic v Norwich City: 0-0
    • Portsmouth v Millwall: 2-2
    • Sheffield United v Derby County: 3-0
    • Blackburn Rovers v Wrexham: 1-1
    • Lincoln City v Burnley: 1-0
    • Stoke City v Bristol City: 2-1
    • Wolverhampton Wanderers v Watford: 5-0
