Ben Whittaker believes Matchroom Boxing’s roster has thinned out enough for him to emerge as one of the promotional company’s biggest attractions, putting himself alongside Anthony Joshua as one of the stable’s top draws.

Asked where he sees himself within Eddie Hearn’s lineup, Whittaker suggested Matchroom no longer has the same depth of star power it once did.

“They’ve not got a lot of people right now either. So I believe I’m one of the main ones,” Whittaker said to The Ariel Helwani Show.

“They got AJ. They’ve got me. Who else got numbers like me and AJ? So for me, I believe if I keep winning, doing what I’m supposed to do, I’ll be the next guy.”

The unbeaten light heavyweight will make his U.S. and North American debut against Richard Rivera on Saturday night at Barclays Center in Brooklyn on the undercard of Jaron Ennis’ unified junior middleweight title fight against Xander Zayas.

Whittaker said Matchroom has fulfilled everything he expected since joining the promotional company, pointing to headline opportunities and his rapid climb up the rankings.

“They’ve done everything they can for me. They’ve gave me two headlines. Now I’m out in America on a big card. At the end of the day, I’m the fighter,” said Whittaker. “I’m supposed to go out there, perform and win, and they’re supposed to bring me these guys. That’s what they’re doing.”

The Olympic silver medalist added that he is ranked #2 by both the WBC and IBF and believes a world title fight is within reach.

“I’m ranked number two in the IBF, number two in the WBC. So I’m there and thereabouts,” Whittaker said.

A victory over Rivera would move the 11-0-1 (8 KOs) contender closer to a final eliminator before a possible world title opportunity in early 2027.
