Ben Stokes’ hopes of a winning send-off in his final international appearance were hanging by a thread in the third Test with New Zealand on the brink of a series victory over England at the close on the fourth day at Trent Bridge on Sunday. The hosts ended on 103-4, still needing 270 runs to secure a 2-1 victory in the series after New Zealand declared its second innings on 288-9.On the ground where Bazball was born four years ago with England chasing down 299 to beat New Zealand in 50 overs, the curtain will come down on the Stokes captaincy…
(Joshua Hedges (UFC Enterprise)) Bantamweight Andres “Loquillo” Teran scored a surprise sixth-round TKO over Floyd “Cashflow” Diaz to headline the five-fight preliminary portion of tonight’s Zuffa Boxing 8 event, live on Paramount+ from the Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas. Diaz, 14-1 (3 KOs), used his superior boxing skills to counter effectively and fend off the aggressive approach of Teran, 19-2 (14 KOs), for most of the first five rounds, but got caught by a hard right-hand in the sixth that took his legs away instantly. Another big right hand that staggered Diaz again a minute later provoked referee Thomas Taylor to…
Ben Stokes has always been his own man. He’s been rebellious in the past. He’s never been conventional. So his departure has not been conventional either. Everyone assumed he would lead England to the Ashes next year and that he would want to be an Ashes-winning captain.I wonder whether if he’s watching it on TV next summer, his mind might just drift to what might have been.I don’t know whether he might regret this decision to retire from international cricket during the third Test against New Zealand one day.We really don’t know what’s gone on over the last few days,…

“Ennis, what a great fight. You are a machine,” De La Hoya said on social media last night. “Let’s make the biggest fight in boxing today. Vergil Ortiz, Boots. Let’s go.” Later, speaking with reporters, De La Hoya made it clear he believes Ortiz should hold the stronger position in any negotiations. “Virgil Ortiz is the man,” De La Hoya said. “Having this fight in Las Vegas can be huge, but Virgil Ortiz has to be the favorite here when it comes to negotiations. As long as they’re favorable, we’ll make the fight happen. There’s no problems. I think everybody…
