MJF will do whatever it takes to win a match.

A week after reclaiming the AEW World Championship in New York City, Maxwell Jacob Friedman headed one state over to take on Pat Buck at WrestlePro’s Better Than You show, set in Rahway, New Jersey. MJF ultimately picked up the win after reversing a single-leg crab into a crossface. In between the bells, though, the action spilled to the outside, with “The Salt of the Earth” using an unorthodox defense.

As seen in a Twitter video, as the physicality trickled into the crowd, MJF picked up a young fan in an attempt shield himself from Buck. The move proved effective as Buck backed down and helped lowered the fan back to the ground. With Buck preoccupied, MJF then thumped Buck in the eye, leaving him momentarily blinded.

“Catch as catch can. The best technical wrestler in the biz,” MJF wrote alongside the clip.

In addition to his AEW outings, recent months have seen MJF make a number of other independent wrestling appearances. WrestlePro remains his latest, having taken place on May 31. Last month, he also defeated fellow AEW star Max Caster at Create A Pro, a promotion owned by Pat Buck. Earlier this year, he competed at House of Glory and Limitless Wrestling as well.

At AEW Double or Nothing on May 24, Friedman bested Darby Allin in a Hair vs. Title Match. While Allin defended the AEW World Championship, MJF put his transplanted hair on the line.
