AEW Collision will have a big title match this Saturday, with Willow Nightingale defending the AEW Women’s World Championship against TBS Champion Maya World.
The champion-vs.-champion match was announced on the August 19 episode of Dynamite, just one week before AEW All In London. The surprise addition could have a big impact on the upcoming PPV.
Willow Nightingale vs. Maya World headlines AEW Collision before All In
Maya World started this week’s Dynamite by defending her TBS Championship in a four-way match against Persephone, Kris Statlander, and Hikaru Shida. Despite having three challengers to deal with, World managed to survive and keep her title.
After the match, World spoke with Renee Paquette backstage. However, Willow Nightingale interrupted the celebratory mood.
The AEW Women’s World Champion congratulated World on her win before bringing up a promise she had made several weeks earlier. Nightingale had said that if she defeated Thekla for the Women’s World Championship at AEW Redemption 2026, World would get the first chance to challenge for her title.
Nightingale decided to keep her word. She offered World a match for the AEW Women’s World Championship on Saturday’s Collision. World accepted, and AEW later announced the match for the August 22 show.
The match could change the AEW All In card significantly. Nightingale is currently scheduled to defend the AEW Women’s World Championship against Mercedes Moné at Wembley Stadium. However, if World defeats her on Collision, she would head into All In as a double champion and completely change the situation.
Saturday’s match will also be the first singles meeting between Nightingale and World in an AEW ring. The two have competed in other matches together, but this will give fans their first chance to see them face each other one-on-one.
There is already some history between them outside AEW. Nightingale and World previously wrestled each other for West Coast Pro Wrestling in California last November, where Nightingale defeated World.
The Continental Challenge Cup will also continue on Saturday’s Collision. Eddie Kingston will face Claudio Castagnoli in a quarterfinal match, while Orange Cassidy will take on Kyle O’Reilly in another quarterfinal match.
