‘Absolute class’ – Fans praise a non league club’s brilliantly done retained announcement video which was uploaded onto social media.

Bilston Town, who are fan-owned, revealed their management/player retention ahead of the North West Counties League Division One South for the 2026/27 season.

To the tune of Bittersweet Symphony by The Verve, the video starts with manager Dave King walking from the tram station, and one by one, the club’s staff, players, fans join to form a group with the clip ending with them all lined up in the town centre.

    So… who’s retained?

Amongst those retained, featuring in the video, are Dave King (manager), Tom Kurdman (player assistant), Luke Carter (captain), Ben Priest (vice-captain), Harry Dixon, Sam Yankson, Tyrique Hunter, Louie Newbold, Natty Hewett, Nathan Guest, and Isaiah Beaumont.

@Soccerkingsuk: Fair play to the media team absolutely class act. I’m know Tom hardy but certainly enjoyed my acting debut 😂🧡

The team finished the Midland Football League Division One season sitting 8th, with 69 points from 40 games played, and have since transfer to a different league at the same level.

In June 2025, Jay Morgan is vice chairman of Bilston Town spoke on the club to BBC News on the club being fan-owned:

“We’ve shareholders across the UK but from all over the world who have chipped in a tenner or various amounts. It means we are offering the club back to the community.

“We want the community to come down to Bilston knowing it is value for money and they are watching a good game of football in a safe and secure environment.

“There’s nothing better than coming down and supporting your local football team.”

@NonLeague_Japan (Translated from Japanese) – “Bilston Town (probably tier 10) ‘s retained list announcement video is the best. Especially the part where the little old man blends in like he’s part of the team. It reminds you that football isn’t some special thing in a good way, but just a part of everyday life, or something like that—let me try saying something profound like that. I wanna go there someday~”

@Tuanzebe_beat (Translated from Japanese) – “I really want everyone to watch the announcement video for Bilston Town’s retained list — it’s absolutely wonderful. Non-league at its finest.”

@rickyleegriffi: This is class. Look at how well it’s been received. You can’t do stuff like this if you just stick an ai generated image alongside every bit of club news.

@_N47H4N: It’s a brilliant video but would never work with a big club, you’d have players getting stopped every 20 seconds for photos and every Tom, Dick and Harry trying to get themselves in the video. It works for a team of that size when next to nobody knows any of the players.

@rickyleegriffi: More talking about the trend of non league clubs using AI for their socials but something like this could still work with a bigger club. They have the money to rent out spaces for media stuff

@_N47H4N: Ye it could easily be done with lower league and non league clubs and it hits so much better.
Big clubs probably could hire space but if it was remotely public I could just see people moaning about them separating themselves from the public and being big time
