“Did u clearly see me say I would never agree to that? Don’t believe these clickbait fake bloggers,” Haney said on X.
Negotiations between the two stars have repeatedly surfaced over the years without producing an official fight agreement.
Neither Haney nor Davis has publicly announced active negotiations for a fight, and no official agreement involving a catchweight or rehydration clause has been confirmed by either camp at this stage.
For years, Davis has favored catchweights and rehydration limits in several high-profile fights, arguing they help level the playing field against naturally larger opponents. Haney, meanwhile, has consistently opposed those restrictions and has previously indicated he would not accept terms that prevent him from fully rehydrating after the weigh-in.
A fight between Haney and Davis has been discussed for years, but the sides have never reached an agreement. Weight has remained one of the major sticking points, with Davis typically campaigning below welterweight while Haney has continued moving up in weight after beginning his career at lightweight.
Haney’s response reaffirmed that he remains opposed to accepting rehydration clauses in any potential fight with Tank to date.
