Peter Cklamovski speaks for the first time on becoming the new manager of Salford City, coming in as replacement for Karl Robinson.

He has most recently been the head coach of Malaysia, guiding them to their highest FIFA ranking in over 20 years, beginning that role in 2025.

The 47 year old has also managed the likes of FC Tokyo, Montedio Yamagata, Shimizu S-Pulse and Australia under 17s.

The club said in a statement on their website: Salford City FC today announces Peter Cklamovski as the Club’s new Men’s First Team Manager.

The 47-year-old arrives in Salford following a spell as Head Coach of the Malaysia national team, prior to which he coached in Japan and Australia.

With a reputation for having an attack-minded style that captures the imagination of supporters and set records in the J-Leagues, alongside a track record of youth development, Peter brings a fresh approach at an exciting juncture for the Club.

Men’s First Team Manager Peter Cklamovski said:

“I’m here with a great opportunity to do something special, and it’s a great challenge. The owners have got lofty ambitions, the Club’s got big aspirations to achieve something special and that resonates with me.

“The way to do that and achieve success is together, and working hard on a daily basis together to grow the football club, and I’m looking forward to getting started on that.

“We want to build a mentality around the game where we fight for everything with passion, commitment, discipline, but get on the ball, be brave, be committed, and have that forward intent to score goals.

“We want to be aggressive, attacking, and we want to get our fans off their seats, get them jumping. That style is built off a daily process on the training pitch and a really clear training methodology that the players will enjoy, but work hard for and have that mindset to get better every day.

“I’m really passionate about that and the way we do that is do that together. That’s everyone at the Club, all the fans behind the players, and together we can achieve something special.”

    CEO Gavin Fleig added:

“We’re delighted to welcome Peter to Salford City. Peter brings an elite and diverse experience to the club – delivering football that is proactive and on the front foot.

His clear principles, training process and attention to detail will bring control, possession with purpose, and relentless intensity on a matchday.

Peter has the drive, know-how and daily work ethic to raise standards, develop people and maximise the potential of our talented playing squad.

“He was the standout candidate following a rigorous process and we look forward to introducing Peter to our supporters.”

Chief Football Advisor Paul Scholes added:

“Peter brings a style of football that we like to watch – exciting, attacking football. But he’s not just about scoring goals – he’s obsessed with keeping clean sheets too. He wants his teams to be ruthless and to have a clear identity – and that’s something that we’re excited to bring to the club.”

Here’s how fans reacted after Peter Cklamovski speaks for the first time on becoming the new Salford City manager…

Matt Hopkins: The club is becoming a shambles

Stephen Mooney: Who, don’t unpack your suitcase 😔

Jane Marsh: Welcome Peter, looking forward to the start of the season

Jamie John Jones: National league here we come

Sean Mark: The most Googled man at this moment….. Apparently he was most recently in charge of Malaysia. Cheap option surely?

@tomhwilliams23: What a fascinating appointment Was Ange’s assistant, so can’t wait to see what the football they will play will be like Seems to be up against it in terms of winning the fans round already based on the replies though 😅

Warren Pearson: FFS give him a chance, some right moaning bastards on here

Amin Zulkarnain: Good luck with Salford City FC, Coach. Your reputation as a reputable head coach has been tarnished anyway with your worshipping of HRH Crown Prince of Johor during your time as Malaysia NT Head Coach and that seven illegal players scandal which you enabled. Good riddance and you’ll never reach the heights of your mentor, Ange Postecoglou for the rest of coaching and managerial career. Heck, you’ll not even gonna reach the level of Kevin Muscat success 🖕🏼

Scott Wood: Cklamovski’s orange and black army 👏👏

Stephen Nicholls: He’s worked with Big Ange Postecoglou. Could be an good appointment 🙂

@khalilkayalKK: Buckle up. Looking forward to see what Peter can do over there.

@harriesdon87: Very left field appointment although any Salford fans…. sometimes that can work…. Hull last season
