The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has received a proposal from the Cricket Association of Nepal (CAN) to send an India ‘A’ team for a series in Kathmandu.
While the request is under consideration, sources have confirmed that the Board has yet to take a final call on the matter.
If approved, the tour would mark another significant step in the growing cricketing ties between the two neighbours. Nepal and the BCCI have shared a strong working relationship in recent years. Ahead of the T20 World Cup qualifiers last year, Nepal’s men’s team trained at the BCCI’s Centre of Excellence in Bengaluru, with the initiative receiving support from the Indian government as part of efforts to strengthen sporting and youth exchanges between the two countries.
The BCCI is also weighing the possibility of extending India’s tour of Sri Lanka in August. Sources indicated that discussions are underway over adding a three-match T20I series after the conclusion of the two-Test rubber.
With a window of nearly two weeks available before the team’s next international assignment, the Board is exploring whether additional white-ball fixtures can be accommodated during the tour.
Meanwhile, uncertainty continues over India’s scheduled limited-overs tour of Bangladesh in September. The BCCI had earlier maintained that any decision on the tour would depend on clearance from the Indian government, and there is still no clarity on whether the team will travel.
