Great British amateur ace Odel Kamara has announced he is turning professional.
The 21-year-old from Liverpool, England, enjoyed a successful stint in the unpaid ranks for Team Great Britain and the Salisbury Amateur Boxing Club. Kamara won seven national titles and multiple international medals, most notably a World Championship bronze last year.
The 71 kg fighter was pipped as one of the favorites from the UK to claim a medal at the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, but Kamara has decided to make a switch. Kamara’s athleticism and exciting style have had managers and promoters circling him in an attempt to gain his signature. British boxing manager Sam Jones seems to have won that battle and today (June 2) announced that Kamara had signed a management deal with himself. Jones also stated an announcement on a promotional deal and Kamara’s professional debut would come in the coming weeks.
