Elite defensive line recruit Waylon Wooten has announced his commitment to the Georgia Bulldogs,. The three-star class of 2027 prospect committed to the Bulldogs over the Ohio State Buckeyes, Purdue Boilermakers and Florida Gators. Wooten has over three dozen scholarship offers from college football programs.

“I’m staying home, go Dawgs,” Wooten said when he announced his commitment. Wooten momentarily knocked the camera off him for a moment before his commitment. He really felt valued by Georgia and feels like he could have a role at Georgia as a freshman. He is confident in his ability to make it to the NFL after joining the Georgia program under coach Kirby Smart.

Wooten announced his commitment alongside his mom. He thanked his coaches, trainers and more before announcing his commitment. Wooten describes himself as a hard worker. Wooten says that Georgia defensive line coach Tray Scott played a big role in his recruitment too.

Wooten plays high school football for Grayson High School in Loganville, Georgia. Wooten is ranked as the No. 92 defensive lineman prospect in his recruiting class. The 6-foot-2, 300-pound defender is the No. 97 recruit in Georgia.

Georgia offered Wooten in Aug. 2024. The Grayson star plays against a great level of high school competition. In 2025, Grayson advanced far in the 6A playoffs in Georgia before falling to state finalist Carrollton in the quarterfinals of the playoffs.

Wooten visited all of his top four schools this spring. The Grayson standout is a solid addition for coach Kirby Smart and Georgia. Wooten is Georgia’s first commitment along the defensive line and Georgia’s eighth commitment overall.
