    Division 1

Sudbrook 1st 258 all out beat Llandaff 1st 228 all out by 30 runs.

An unbeaten 86 runs from skipper Mathew Kinchin and two four-wicket hauls for Joey Voke and Pumudushan Sedara helped Sudbrook to a welcome victory in Division 1.

Kinchin put all the experience he gained as an opening batsman before this season saw him switching to the wicketkeeper role following the retirement of long-serving Ross Lewis.

He put his previous contributions behind him and played a skipper’s role to steady the innings after the first four wickets fell for 19, 22, 2 and 34.

Kinchin faced 118 deliveries while hitting 10 boundaries and one maximum, and losing partners along the way.

In reply, Sudbrook’s bowling was shared by Sedara (4-29 with two maidens in his 10-over spell while Joe Voke also bagged a fourfer at a cost of 37 runs with two maidens, the other two wickets to Jason Cook (1-20) and Michael Provis (1-32).

Sudbrook are second in the table behind Pontypridd – alphabetically – with both teams on 68 points, two ahead of Panteg and 11 ahead of fourth-placed Malpas on 57 points.

    Whitchurch-Heath 1st 142-7 beat Usk 2nds 140 all out by three wickets.

In Division 2, Usk skipper Jamie Rayner won the toss and decided his men would bat first, but despite batters making starts, only top-scorer Jamie Jones (39) was able to kick on.

In reply, Pat Rodden (2-14 and one maiden) led the way with four of his bowling teammates collecting one wicket apiece, and the hosts crossed the line in the 29th over.

Blaina 1sts 133 all out lost to Chepstow 2nds 210 all out by 77 runs.

Meanwhile, in Division 3, Chepstow 2nds enjoyed victory at Blaina 1sts with Chris Archer (46), skipper Tuhin Gavand (39) and Josh Tregaskes (34) making valuable contributions with the bat. Their innings ending on 210 all out, a target that proved beyond Blaina.

Chepstow bowler Raahi Kumar recorded the remarkable figures of 7-27, with the other wickets taken by Bruno Chitnis 1-45, Malith Madurasinghe 1-25 and Tregaskes 1-28.

    Division 4

Barry Athletic 1st 170 all out lost to Abergavenny 2nds 207-9 by 37 runs.

After the home team skipper won the toss and elected to field, Aber’s openers Ed Woolcott (48) and Drew Heffernan (53) made him regret his decision.

Further contributions of 28 by Evan Jones and 25 by Ellis Jones proved vital to restrict Barry’s total, and with the ball in hand, Dylan Beaumont-Welsh (4-19 and one maiden), James Hrastelj (2-28), Leo Ling (2-25) and a wicket each for Tim Price and Toby Smith handed Aber the 20 points.
