The result gives Mielnicki the credible victory his record needed. Much of his earlier opposition allowed him to develop without revealing where he belonged among the better middleweights. Williams was supposed to provide that answer, and Mielnicki made the fight surprisingly one-sided.

Williams kept advancing, but simply following a taller fighter is not effective pressure. He came forward without consistent head movement and repeatedly gave Mielnicki a stationary target for the jab, right hand, and uppercut.

The uppercuts were especially damaging. Williams continued lowering his head as he entered, and Mielnicki met him with the same punch throughout the fight. Ammo never made the adjustment needed to take it away.

That is the troubling part of the defeat for Williams. Losing to a talented opponent is understandable. Spending 10 rounds making the same defensive mistake is much harder to excuse. His aggression gave him the appearance of working, but Mielnicki controlled where the exchanges occurred and landed the more accurate shots.

Physically, Mielnicki looked much larger than Williams. He resembled a filled-out super middleweight against a normal-sized middleweight, and he used that advantage correctly. Instead of wasting energy trying to overpower Ammo at close range, he boxed from distance, caught him coming inside, and moved before Williams could answer.

The victory does not establish Mielnicki as one of the division’s best fighters. It does show that he has developed beyond the protected prospect stage and can dominate a recognizable opponent over 10 rounds.

Williams leaves Newark in a much worse position. At 20-3, he can no longer be sold on potential alone. His power and aggression may keep him useful against less disciplined opposition, but fighters with length, composure, and a dependable counterattack now have a clear guide for beating him.

One fighter needed a credible name on his record, while the other needed proof that he still belonged near the top of the middleweight division. Only Mielnicki received what he came for.
