Odyssey Jones isn’t ruling out AEW as he continues rebuilding his wrestling career following his WWE departure. More than two years after his run with WWE came to an end, Jones says he’s been a fan of what AEW is doing and believes having another major company around is good for everyone in wrestling.

While speaking on the When Wrestling Was Real2Me podcast, Jones was directly asked whether he had considered joining AEW. He didn’t exactly campaign for a contract, but he certainly left the door open.

“Um, maybe. I mean, I always was a fan of AEW from when it got established just because, you know, we’re in America, we’re a capitalist country, so they say, and we love competition.”

Jones has also been paying attention to the fact that AEW has stuck around. He pointed out that the company is still going strong heading toward 2027 and has several people on its roster he already knows. Swerve Strickland in particular is someone Jones has enjoyed watching for years.

“We’re in 2026 going into 2027, and they’re still rocking and rolling. You know, I love seeing what they do. I have a lot of friends and people who were out there that worked with the company, that’s with them, that were with them before. Like, you know, Swerve. I love watching Swerve.”

Apparently Jones was yelling “Swerve’s House” long before anyone asked him about potentially working there. He recalled following Strickland’s rise and also singled out Kenny Omega, MJF and Prince Nana while talking about what he enjoys in AEW.

“I got to see Kenny Omega, and MJF talks his ass off. I love it, man. Swerve, Swerve, Swerve. I love Prince Nana.”

Jones’ interest in AEW goes beyond liking the wrestlers. He believes the company gives talent another place to work at the highest level instead of WWE having the entire upper end of the wrestling business to itself.

“We see how WWE acts with competition, with WCW in the past and ECW for that matter. So we know that they get a little, uh—I don’t want to say intimidated, but, you know, they understand that they have a monopoly on the higher end of the business. Monopolies are not good, you know, especially not for the fans, not for the talent in the business. When you have no other choice, you know, no other place to play.”

That doesn’t mean anything is happening between Jones and AEW right now. He made it clear that he hasn’t even met Tony Khan, although he’s heard positive things about the AEW President. Still, he wasn’t closing any doors.

“So, I love seeing AEW. Maybe, you know, I haven’t met Tony Khan. I hear great things about him.”

Jones was released by WWE in September 2024 after domestic violence allegations surfaced. He later claimed WWE mishandled the situation and has disputed the allegations while pursuing legal action related to the matter.

Since leaving WWE, Jones has returned to the independent scene and continued wrestling. Whether AEW ever becomes part of that journey remains to be seen, but when somebody finally asked him about the possibility, his answer wasn’t no.

What do you think about Odyssey Jones potentially joining AEW someday? Let us know in the comments.
