Character work separates pro wrestling from most other sports, and a wrestler’s character is based on several things, including gimmick, presentation, and their entrance and theme. During an episode of his “Kliq This” podcast, Kevin Nash looked back at some of the entrances of some of his peers and which ones were his favorites.
“Taker’s is a – I can’t even put Taker in because it was such a – it was ceremonial,” Nash gushed. “But Scott Hall with the f**king, the f**king Razor. I thought that was f**king – I always thought Razor’s music was so f**king sweet.”
He then recalled once driving with Scott Hall while they were stoned, and how he told his friend that he would get over because of his cool music.
“I thought Shawn Michaels had a great [entrance] because he sings his own f**king deal and he always had so much energy and electricity and he was so f**king vibrant,” Nash added. “He’d hit his f**king poses and f**king take his chaps off and throw them, I thought he had a – I’m going through the Kliq… I thought f**king Triple H’s was brilliant, when he would f**king spit the water, and he was f**king jacked.”
Nash then admitted that he zoned in too hard on his friends, before briefly naming a few others like Ric Flair, who he thought was always iconic, and Goldberg, whose entrance he compared to a Gladiator entering the Coliseum.
“The other one would be Bret [Hart]. I thought Bret was so over for so long and he was such a dynamic part of the WWE and the WWF,” he explained. When it came to Randy Savage, Nash opined that his theme hindered him. “I thought Kane had a great entrance; what he did with the fire.”
Nash isn’t the only Kliq member with a penchant for entrances, as his friend, WWE CCO Paul “Triple H” Levesque, has made a show of helping the current crop of WWE stars with their entrances.
