Cedric Alexander became the latest TNA star to be attacked backstage during the August 20 episode of TNA iMPACT. The X-Division Champion was found unconscious as the show came to an end.
The moment happened right after the night’s main event. While The Hardys were celebrating in the ring, the cameras suddenly cut to Alexander lying unconscious on the floor. There was no sign of the attacker, and TNA did not immediately explain what had happened.
A mystery attacker targeted Cedric Alexander as TNA iMPACT went off the air
Before Alexander was found backstage, the August 20 episode ended with a big eight-man tag team match. The Hardys, Moose and Elijah faced AJ Francis, Frankie Kazarian and The Nemeths in a match that previewed several Lockdown rivalries.
The match ended with Jeff Hardy picking up the win for his team.
But as the babyfaces were celebrating their victory, the broadcast went backstage and Alexander was shown lying unconscious.
The scene was very similar to what happened to Moose one week earlier. On the August 13 episode of iMPACT, Moose was also found backstage after being attacked by an unknown person.
Moose recovered in time to compete in the August 20 main event. Now that Alexander has become the second victim, it looks like someone could be targeting members of the TNA roster.
The timing of Alexander’s attack is especially interesting. He is set to defend the X-Division Championship against Leon Slater inside a Steel Cage at TNA Lockdown.
TNA has not revealed who attacked Alexander or Moose. There is also no confirmation that the same person was behind both incidents. However, the attacks of similar nature happening just one week apart have made it hard to ignore the possibility that they are connected.
