Manchester United are now working on a deal to sign Leicester City wonderkid Louis Page, as they attempt to sign the teenager ahead of Arsenal and Aston Villa.

The Red Devils have endured a fairly quiet transfer window since an early flurry saw Youri Tielemans, Andrey Santos and Karl Darlow arrive, but are back in the market.

Much of their focus has been on midfield signings and that hasn’t changed as the window has continued. Aurelien Tchouameni is someone who has threatened to steal the headlines with a major move, but for the time being, he remains out of United’s reach.

Before that can change, INEOS have switched their focus towards a future star in Page. The 18-year-old was voted the EFL Apprentice of the Year last season, despite Leicester’s relegation, and he has earned Premier League interest as a result.

Although Page is still young, he’s still had experience in senior football. The midfielder featured 18 times in the Championship last season and earned plenty of praise while making those appearances.

When he signed a new contract, Leicester went as far as to say that Page is “one of the brightest talents” in their system – the same system which produced the likes of Jeremy Monga.

What really stands out about Page is how fearless he is. Some would have shied away as Leicester stared down the barrel of relegation last season, but Page is not that type of player. In the minutes he did play, the midfielder averaged more than 60 touches and created 1.5 chances per 90.

The potential is clear for all to see and the Premier League is now fighting to win that potential, with Man United hoping to end the race before it’s even truly started.

As reported by BBC Sport’s Sami Mokbel, Man United have now opened talks to sign Page from Leicester, as they look to beat Aston Villa and Arsenal to the deal.

Negotiations are ongoing in pursuit of the teenage star, but it remains to be seen how much Leicester demand to let another impressive young talent leave this summer.

The Foxes have already lost Monga to Manchester City and are now facing the prospect of losing Page to the other side of Manchester. With less than a month to go until the window slams shut, it’s the Red Devils who are kickstarting their search for incomings.
