Fans on social media have took to slam ‘scandalous’ ticket prices which have been revealed ahead of the 2026/27 season.

Prices for the League One fixture between Sheffield Wednesday and Bradford, as well as the matchday prices at National League North side Morecambe have become a trending topic on Twitter.

Bradford fans are being charged £34, plus £1.50 booking fee per ticket, for their trip to Hillsborough. The game has already been moved to a Thursday for Sky Sports coverage, initially frustrating fans. There is also similar anger with Morecambe charging £24.

Fans have also taken issued with the ticket prices set for Middlesbrough v Lincoln…

£34 for third division football is scandalous – I don’t care what stadium it is. English football has a HUGE pricing problem #bcafc https://t.co/5Qtxig2T7I

Yes it’s third tier football. Premier league clubs have agreed a cap on away ticket prices at £30 you’re charging more than premier league and some champions league fixtures for a Thursday night league one game!

    £24💷

For a ticket for a english 6th tier game that is disgusting 🤮 @MorecambeFC pic.twitter.com/nU80aueRCg

Since criticism from fans, Sheffield Wednesday Supporters’ Trust (@SWFCTrust) have tweeted: “Following feedback from members, we have spoken directly with the football club following the reaction to the recent Bradford City ticket price announcements.

“We are actively engaged in discussions on this matter and will issue a full update as soon as we have further details to share.”

Sheffield Wednesday are review the pricing structure for future Category A matches, as per The Star.

Sheffield Wednesday will ‘review’ the pricing structure for future ‘Category A’ matches following criticism from some fans. The @SWFCTrust took the concerns to the club and they have listened.https://t.co/w3wSLGxXco

As mentioned, fans slam ‘scandalous’ ticket prices revealed ahead of the 2026/27 season…

@BCAFCBH: First the game gets moved to a Thursday evening for television. Then the home club decide to charge you £34 a ticket in the third tier. There is not a single other country that this would be allowed to pass. What a complete joke English Football has turned into. 🤦‍♂️

@JamesKay89: Leyton Orient charging us £32 in a few weeks.. It’s about the going rate sadly – regardless of day

@BCAFCBH: Yep, and that’s the point entirely. We need a blanket price cap across the EFL.

@MartinEastwoo14: The problem is, people complain, shake their heads, shrug their shoulders and pay it anyway. The only way it will change is if people STOPPED paying it, but they won’t and the circle remains unbroken.

@Nozza1903: 34 quid for league one 😂😂 I know you were in a bit of a financial crisis but you don’t have to take it out on everyone else lads #bcafc #swfc

    @swfcjackk: twenty is plenty

@ConorHill9: Poor this in my opinion gonna prices out your average working class fan who cant commit to a season ticket sadly. £30-£35 max. Pepole are already struggling financially due to the current false economy we find ourselves in #swfc

@jackbeeton2002: league one/two ticket prices for a 6th tier game is mental

@SHD_Backup: Those prices are so grim. 🤢 When you include the fees you’re nearly at 40 quid for League One football, madness.👎

@RomanBCAFC: £34 for an adults ticket? what the actual fuck

@nattasswfc: Am I a Sheffield Wednesday fan? Yes. Do I think that £34 is too expensive for a league one ticket? Also yes #swfc

@lmonaghan86: £34 is a right piss take. It’s league 1 not the prem lads. #bcafc

@JohnDCarty: Fucking rip off for third tier football. Nice to see an historic club in a working northern city keeping it real for the fans – NOT!

@willrook93: The amount of #SWFC fans jumping in to defend the price their club is charging #BCAFC fans for tickets is a shame. Just because some people will still pay it doesn’t make right to squeeze football fans. £34 is punchy at any level, but scandalous in League One.

@dannewell190: £24 for away fans. Absolutely disgusting that @MorecambeFC

@ElBrethers: Morecambe charging Spennymoor Town supporters a mere £6 less than what away fans would pay for the Premier League (£30 cap). £24 to watch National League North is absolutely grim.

@wscevans: Ticket prices for a National League North game are scandalous. Let’s not pull any punches and call it out for what it is.

@PortDan1121: A @NL_Enterprise price cap on match tickets needs to come in at £20. Anything more than that is pure greed. ‘fan-owned’ clubs like Chester also charge over £20. It isn’t just greedy owners.

@durhamchris1983: Christ £24 in advance & £26 on the day for an away fan at Morecambe to watch National League North football. Terrible that @MorecambeFC

@allthingskiddy: Just seen this. 24 Great British pounds to watch the National League North. Something doesn’t sound right 🤔 Only £6 more to go to a Premier League game!!

    @GateAndrew:
£24 for a Morecambe away ticket in NLN.
    1. That’s absolutely ludicrous for tier 6 (SIX)
    2. Proud to work for a club that puts fans first in @OxCityFC
An adult can watch an entire month of football (X3 league games in Aug) for £1 less than one ticket at Morecambe. Mental!

@OB1999_: £26 for a ticket on the day in the National League North. There should be a price cap within football, especially within the lower leagues. Fans need to collectively stand up against it and call it out, as it will only get worse. FANS NOT CUSTOMERS!

@elsmfc: one of the most deprived areas in the country btw and we’re charging an absolute MINIMUM of £34? appalling #boro

A lot of talk about ticket prices yesterday. Bradford City are being charged £34 for tickets in the Leppings Lane end for our first home game.

Our matchday ticket pricing has yet to be announced but what’s your thoughts?

Is £34 too expensive? If so what should the price be? pic.twitter.com/zI58vsteZY
