Chelsea are on the verge of sending a goalkeeper out on loan to their sister club Strasbourg for the season.

Chelsea’s summer has really got into gear in the last few weeks, with a lot of players coming in. Departures are now a priority, and one of them sounds close too.

It’s been clear since January that Fillip Jorgensen was going to leave the club in search of minutes as a starter, and finally now a deal is coming together. According to Fabrizio Romano, Jorgensen will go on loan to Chelsea’s sister club Strasbourg. It’s a “dry” loan, meaning there’s no in-built option to make the move permanent.

Strasbourg need a goalkeeper, Chelsea need Jorgensen gone, and the Denmark international needs minutes. It’s a move that suits all 3 parties, to some degree.

Of course the Blues would probably rather have sold Jorgensen outright, but this way they can potentially raise his transfer value by getting him a full season of playing regularly. It does, however use up a foreign loan slot, and one of our three loan slots with Strasbourg.

It leaves Mike Penders (who was Strasbourg number one last season) in the first team to compete with Robert Sanchez.

    In other news…

Moises Caicedo took the player section of the press conference today, where he spoke at length about his teammate Enzo Fernandez and whether he expected to see him again soon.

Xabi Alonso also spoke about Mykhailo Mudryk, who is closer to being ready to play some minutes than we had expected.
