Bisseck given ‘a lot of hope’ by Klopp’s imminent Germany appointment

Yann Bisseck revealed Jurgen Klopp’s imminent arrival as Germany coach gives him “a lot of hope”.

The German football federation (DFB) are expected to announce Klopp as their new national team coach on Friday, following the recent resignation of Julian Nagelsmann.

Germany were knocked out in the round of 32 at the 2026 World Cup after losing on penalties to Paraguay.

It was the first time Germany have lost a penalty shoot-out at the World Cup, and just their second at a major tournament (World Cup/Euros), after going down to Czechoslovakia in the 1976 Euros final.

There were 31 places in the FIFA World Rankings prior to the tournament between Germany (10th) and Paraguay (41st), the fourth-largest for a World Cup knockout elimination (since 1994) after Spain v Russia in 2018 (60), Italy v South Korea in 2002 (34) and Spain v South Korea in 2002 (32).

The disappointing exit saw the end of Nagelsmann’s tenure as Germany boss, with Klopp immediately named as favourite to take over the role.

Bisseck, who has made one senior appearance for Germany, believes Klopp is the right person for the job.

“His [Klopp’s] arrival gives me a lot of hope,” Bisseck told Sky Sport Germany.

“He’s a high-level coach, and I’m convinced he’ll be able to bring his ideas and do a good job. Naturally, in the end, a lot will depend on the players as well.

“You can’t think that everything will change from one day to another. I’m really curious to see what he will build.”

Bisseck has now spent three seasons with Inter, winning two Serie A titles, one Coppa Italia and one Supercoppa Italiana.

The defender has been linked with a move to Bayern Munich, but insisted his focus is currently on Inter.

“It’s not something I’m thinking about currently,” Bisseck said when asked about a return to Germany.

“But we know that in football, with the right offer, things can change very quickly.

“I play for Inter, which isn’t bad at all, so a possible return to the Bundesliga isn’t something I’m concerned about right now.”
