Germany and Borussia Dortmund defender Nico Schlotterbeck will be sidelined for “several months” after suffering an ankle ligament injury at the World Cup. Schlotterbeck made 28 Bundesliga appearances last season, contributing to 11 clean sheets as BVB finished as runners-up, behind Bayern Munich. Waldemar Anton (165) was the only Dortmund player to make more clearances than his 127, while he also ranked third for aerial duels won (66) and joint-third for interceptions (27, level with Felix Nmecha). Schlotterbeck was seen as a key part of Julian Nagelsmann’s plans for the World Cup and started Germany’s first two games – victories…
Former three-division world champion Shane Mosley believes Ryan Garcia will be too much for Conor Benn if the long-discussed welterweight clash finally takes place. While Ryan has stated the bout is targeted for September, promotional and legal complications have prevented an official announcement. Mosley believes Garcia’s advantages in speed and power would ultimately prove too much for Benn “I like the fight, I think that Ryan beats him because he…

Oscar De La Hoya has dismissed rumours of one showdown in particular for Ryan Garcia. ‘King Ry’ claimed the WBC welterweight title in February, dethroning Mario Barrios with a unanimous decision victory after scoring a first-round knockdown. He has since been linked to a clash with Conor Benn, who comes off a 10-round points victory over Regis Prograis after they met at a catchweight of 150lbs in April. Prior to that, ‘The Destroyer’ was involved in two middleweight contests against Chris Eubank Jr, losing their first encounter before exacting his revenge last November. Mannix also revealed that confidence inside Zayas’ camp is growing as the fight draws closer. “When I talk to people within his camp, they say he’s having the best camp that he’s ever had,…
