Will Ospreay knows he is not bulletproof, especially after the neck injury that put his wrestling future in serious question.

While speaking with Baby Huey for 107.7 The Bone ahead of AEW Forbidden Door, Ospreay was asked whether he has had to change his in-ring style since coming back from neck surgery. That is when Ospreay admitted he has already started making changes, including adding more ground-based offense to his matches.

“Like kind of like I’ve worked a little bit on my ground game now. Like that’s why I’m like introducing like an arm bar as a part of like my move set now. Um, and it’s been working. Like the training that we’ve been doing been like real good.”

Ospreay made it clear he is looking at different ways to keep himself going. The high-flying stuff is still there, but he knows there is a clock on how long he can keep pushing that style at the same level.

“But like it just depends on how long term that we’re thinking. Like if you want to do like five years, of course, like I’m thinking about that. But like even 10 years, like of course I’m thinking about it.”

Then Ospreay got real about the future. He admitted he does not know how long this run is going to last, and he is not trying to bury himself under the pressure of planning every year of his career.

“But like who knows? I might start slowing down. I might like just like I have no idea how long this ride is going to be. I’m just enjoying every single minute of it.”

That does not mean Ospreay is done being Will Ospreay. Far from it. Earlier in the conversation, he said his muscle memory is still there after the injury, even if he can feel some things changing. He also gave himself a rough window before he may need to truly dial things back.

“I still think I’ve got like another five years with like my natural athleticism like before I have to like really tone it down.”

That is a pretty honest admission from one of the most athletic wrestlers on the planet. Ospreay is still moving at an insane level, but after a major neck scare, he clearly understands that his body is not going to let him fly forever.

For now, Ospreay is not slowing down. He is adjusting, adding new tools, and trying to squeeze everything he can out of this run while he still feels like himself. The scary part for everyone else in AEW is that even a more calculated Ospreay is still a nightmare to deal with.

What do you think about Will Ospreay saying he may have around five years left before he has to tone things down? Please share your thoughts and feedback in the comments section below.
