While Chelsea bide their time, sister club Strasbourg are making moves in the transfer market already, signing up a young Swede.

Chelsea are taking their time in the transfer market last summer – they’ve got to make some major sales before they really get into gear buying players.

But that’s not holding back their sister club, Strasbourg. According to an exclusive from Fabrizio Romano, the Alsatians have already secured their first major move of the summer.

A Tweet from Romano today says that Strasbourg have “agreed a deal to sign Swedish talent Benjamin Brantlind” from IFK Gothenburg.

The young central midfielder was hot property – Romano says there were “many clubs in the race” but Strasbourg got the job done in the end.  The 17 year old already has 11 caps for the Sweden Under 19 team, and is a regular for his club in the Swedish top flight.

With player like Valentin Barco and Emmanuel Emegha on their way to Stamford Bridge, it’s the right time for Strasbourg to strengthen. They want to get back into Europe and keep manager Gary O’Neil happy that things are moving forward for them.

    In other news…

Thomas Tuchel praised Reece James for the way he effortlessly switched into central midfield in the latter stages of last night’s game.

We’ve already written about the praise James got, and how careful England need to be with him for the rest of this tournament.
