Nattie beat Jaida Parker on NXT this week, and fans are not exactly clapping for the booking whatsoever.
The June 16 episode saw Nattie pick up the win over Jaida with the Sharpshooter, but the reaction online quickly turned into a bigger question about what WWE is actually doing with Parker. Instead of seeing the loss as part of a lesson, a lot of fans saw it as another case of a younger NXT name getting cooled off for no reason. One fan took to Twitter and made it clear they thought the whole point should have been Nattie helping elevate Jaida, not beating her.
“I thought the whole point of this was for Nattie to put Jaida over. What are we doing @WWENXT ??”
Another fan pointed out that Jaida has already proven she is tough, bringing up her NXT Underground fight with Lola Vice where she refused to tap and passed out instead.
“So what now? @Jaida_Parkerwwe has been ‘humbled’ and she asks nicely to come to the Dungeon like a good girl? She literally went to the Underground and fought Lola Vice and refused to tap and passed out. She proved she’s tough before”
That was the main frustration across the board. Fans were not saying Nattie cannot wrestle or does not belong. They were asking why Jaida Parker, who has been built as a tough rising star, keeps taking losses when she feels like someone WWE should be heating up.
One fan was even more blunt about it: “What’s the point of burying younger talent for old talent yal aint ever gonna push again?” Another questioned whether the booking helped anyone at all: “Are they burying Jaida Parker or Nattie by having her get wins on NXT talent smh” And one fan summed up the confusion around Jaida’s direction, saying even if she wins the feud later, the choice to have her lose now still feels strange.
“What are they doing with Jaida? This is insane … You are burying her for Nattie? Who won’t do much. Even if in the long term Jaida ‘wins’ the feud, it’s baffling to me smh”
The backlash comes after Nattie made it clear on Busted Open After Dark that she does not want Jaida Parker to come back soft or respectful. Nattie said she does not want a handshake. She wants Jaida to dust herself off, get angry, and show she belongs in WWE.
So WWE may be telling a story where Jaida hits a low point before firing back harder. But right now, fans are not sold. They see a young star with momentum taking another hit, and they want to know where this is actually going.
Bottom line, Nattie got the win, but Jaida Parker’s booking became the bigger story. WWE may have a long-term plan here, but after the reaction online, fans clearly want to see Jaida stop being humbled and start being pushed.
