
Oshae Jones held onto her IBF super welterweight title after battling to a draw with Elia Carranza at Caribe Royale in Orlando, Florida.
Jones, now 9-0-1 (3 KOs), retained her title after scores of 96-94 – either way – and 95-95 were announced.
Jones held a narrow decision win over Carranza from their first fight last July.
Tiara Brown was victorious in the co-feature, improving to 21-0 (11 KOs) following 10-round points win over Hannah Rapp. Jones won by scored of 97-93 and 99-91 (twice) and Rapp is now 8-1-1 (5 KOs).
Panama veteran Nataly Delgado improved to 21-7-2 (5 KOs) and won the WBA’s super flyweight title with a decision over Tampa’s Jasmine Artiga, who lost for the first time and is now 15-1-1 (7 KOs).
Scores were 97-93 across the board.
The first fight on the main card was won by Mexican light flyweight Estefany Alegria, now 15-1 (4 KOs), who scored an upset win over Argentina’s unified WBO, WBA and IBF champion Evelin Bermudez, who falls to 22-2-1 (8 KOs).
The scores were wide, with two cards favoring Alegria by 99-91 and a third card giving her ever round, 100-90. Alegria earned the $20,000 Performance of the Night bonus.
In a battle of debutants, Brazil’s Jully Poca defeated Monica Medina via four-round decision at 140lbs, cruiserweight Keno Marley, a Brazilian Olympian, improved to 2-0 (1 KO) with a first-round stoppage of the 5-2-1 (4 KOs) Jordan Gruzewski and bantamweight hope Jordan Orozco is now 17-0 (17 KOs) following a third-round win over Fernando Diaz, who is now 16-8-1 (6 KOs).
There were also victories for super flyweight LeAnna Cruz, who won an eight-rounder against Rubi Gutierrez, and Tampa’s 140lbs newcomer Jadden Addison, who stopped Zadier Davis in 64 seconds.
In the MVP prelims, Brittany Sims went the distance to defeat Naomy Cardenas at bantamweight, Cuban middleweight Pedro Veitia stopped Nigeria’s Taiwo Afolabi in five rounds and former amateur star Sa’Rai Brown El won her debut at junior flyweight against Mexican Ashley Felix.
