Andrea Pirlo feels he has been harshly treated following his spells in charge of Juventus and Sampdoria.

Pirlo is now the coach of United FC, who play in the second tier in the UAE.

The Italy legend was in charge of Juve during the 2020-21 season, and guided the Bianconeri to a fourth-place finish and Champions League qualification, while winning the Supercoppa Italiana and the Coppa Italia.

He nevertheless left Juve at the end of that season, and after a year in Turkiye, he returned to Italy to coach Sampdoria.

Pirlo could not get Sampdoria back to Serie A, and despite staying on for a second season, he was soon sacked.

However, Pirlo feels he has been on the end of unfair treatment, especially at Juve, and suggests he knows what that is down to.

“If I look at my career as a coach, I’ve always reached the targets,” he told SportWeek, as quoted by Football Italia.

“At Juventus, I was asked to qualify for the Champions League. Done. Plus I won the Coppa Italia and Supercoppa.

“I left and didn’t coach for a year; I don’t know why. Actually, I know, but I prefer not to say it. Then I went to Karagumruk and finished seventh, a result that had never been achieved by that club, with an unbeaten record.

“At Sampdoria, we reached the Serie B play-off, as demanded. The following season, I was sacked after just three games.

“This season at United, they asked for promotion, and I achieved it. I’ve always brought the results, but if somebody doesn’t like me, it’s another story.”
