Matt Hardy is clearing up why TNA iMPACT didn’t air live this week, and it had to do with issues with the venue and a lot more.
While speaking on The Extreme Life of Matt Hardy podcast, Hardy explained that TNA originally had tapings scheduled in Denver on the 4th and 5th, but problems with the venue forced the company to change plans at the last minute.
“Initially, we were in Denver on the 4th and the 5th. And then there was an issue with the building where there was some stuff broken out. They had to shut down the building and repair it, and they were doing that this week. So, they forced TNA out of those dates, even though they’d agreed to it.”
Hardy said the timing created a major issue because TNA needed to finish tapings quickly so the next episode could be delivered to AMC. So, since the live episode could not happen as planned, TNA had to shift the tapings to the weekend.
“But because we’re at the end of our TV tapings, TNA had to get these tapings done because we have to get the episode to AMC for next Thursday. Since we can’t do it live, it didn’t work out that way necessarily, we’re doing it on Saturday and Sunday.”
Hardy also explained that he and Jeff Hardy had another commitment in Denver, but TNA President Carlos Silva wanted them at the show because it was built around them. Hardy added that he and Jeff wanted to be in Denver, but TNA needed them for the tapings and the cause behind the show was important.
“Carlos Silva said no. He said this show’s built around you, it’s an important show, I want you to be there. We’ll figure it out and we’ll just make up the stuff on Sunday. So Saturday, anybody in Denver, myself and Jeff, we wanted to be there, but we were obligated to do this show and they really wanted us to do it and it is for an important and very good beneficial cause.”
So, TNA iMPACT missing a live episode this week came down to venue problems, a tight taping schedule, and the need to get television delivered to AMC on time. Hardy’s comments show TNA had to make a quick adjustment after plans in Denver fell apart.
