COLLEGE STATION, Texas (KBTX) – Texas A&M quarterback Marcel Reed grew up attending his father’s football camps while he was the head coach at Tennessee State. Saturday, he got a taste of being a camp headliner.

“Today’s just a day of fun on a Saturday to come play football, a game that all of us love, and just to kind of cherish this moment,” Reed said.

Reed hosted a youth football camp Saturday that drew more than 650 campers to Wellborn Middle School.

Saturday marked the first camp Reed has hosted in the Brazos Valley, having previously held camps in his home state of Tennessee.

Campers ranging from ages five to sixteen rotated through a variety of drills focused on football fundamentals. The highlight of the day for every camper was a 15-minute scrimmage with Reed serving as all-time quarterback.

Reed spent four hours throwing passes and giving high fives to every camper that stuck his hand in the air.

“I mean, I just want to come out here and have fun, you know, whatever they’re teaching here,” Reed said. “I hope that they learn and can you know take that to wherever they’re playing football next.”
