Indianapolis Colts quarterback Daniel Jones returned to practice on Wednesday after suffering a season-ending torn Achilles last year, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

“Daniel Jones coming off the torn Achilles back on the field today,” Schefter reported during a Wednesday appearance on the Pat McAfee Show (0:20 mark). “On track to be ready for Week 1 and the Indianapolis Colts. He looked good out there and that’s an encouraging sign for that team because when he was out there, they were functioning at a high level.”

Jones sustained the torn right Achilles during a Week 14 matchup with the Jacksonville Jaguars in Dec. 2025.

Heading into the matchup with Jacksonville, Indianapolis held an 8-4 record after opening the regular season at 7-1.

The Colts lost to the Jaguars as Jones exited with the injury before going on to drop each of their final four games, missing the playoffs by finishing with an 8-9 mark.

Jones put together an impressive individual year before the torn Achilles, completing a career-high 68.0 percent of his throws for 3,101 yards and 19 touchdowns compared to eight interceptions in 13 appearances.

The former first-round pick also amassed five scores on the ground.

Despite the injury, Indianapolis chose to place the transition tag on Jones before signing him to a two-year contract worth $88 million on March 11. The deal contains $60 million in guaranteed money.

It’s a promising sign for Jones’ 2026 outlook that he was able to return to practice so early, as the Colts still have multiple OTA sessions and their mandatory minicamp remaining this offseason.
