Skye Nicolson has been awarded the WBC’s vacant super-bantamweight championship after unified titlist Ellie Scotney opted to move up in weight.

Nicolson, 30, previously held the green belt at featherweight but has dropped down a division and was vocal in her attempts to meet Scotney for all of the belts.

But Scotney, trained by Shane McGuigan, is an MVP fighter and Nicolson is with Matchroom, who also today revealed that there is an agreement for the Australian star to meet another two-weight champion, Miyo Yoshida, next.

Southpaw Nicolson, 16-1 (3 KOs), took to social media after the announcement and said: “Disappointed not to get my shot at undisputed but proud to be a world champion again. Two division world champion sounds nice but there is still much more to come! I look forward to the challenge of Miyo Yoshida next and being part of some of the biggest fights in the sport.” BIG FIGHTS ONLY.”

Nicolson has won her last four since suffering her only defeat, losing her title via split decision to Tiara Brown in March last year. Her last fight was a wide decision for the WBC’s Interim title over Mariah Turner in April.
