In their second appearance at the u20 International Series in South Africa, Chile were beaten by Georgia. The South Americans put on an improved performance against Georgia in comparison to their opening effort against South Africa.

South Africa were 97-0 winners over Chile while Georgia defeated Chile 59-26. As was the case against South Africa, Chile were quickly well behind against Georgia. However, unlike against South Africa, Chile managed to fight back after having been 45-0 down early-on in the second-half.

Chile’s set-piece improved in the second-half. With the lineout and maul operating well, Chile succeeded in scoring twice in the try zone with Maximiliano Abumohor and Rafael Silva scoring once each.

The third Chilean score saw Marco Alvano underlining why he has already featured for Selknam in Super Rugby Americas. Alvano made a 60 meter run. He burst forward from inside the Chilean half and brushed off a tackle to score.

Chile managed to score a fourth try. It was all about the forwards as raids of pick-and-goes saw Chile rewarded with Stefano Maino over for the try. With Jaime Soler converting three of the tries, Chile earned respect in their defeat by closing the gap between the points notably from 45-0 to 59-26.

Chile has one more match in the u20 International Series. The South Americans will take-on Fiji on Saturday, May 30 at Paul Roos Gymnasium.
