Derek Beaumont has revealed his plans for Leigh’s trip to the United States – including a stop in New York!
Derek Beaumont is pulling out all the stops for Leigh Leopards’ eye-catching Las Vegas trip – with a pre-match party in New York already on the itinerary.
Leigh will face Bradford Bulls in rugby league’s now-annual Vegas showcase at Allegiant Stadium, part of a blockbuster triple-header also featuring Melbourne Storm against Wests Tigers and Parramatta Eels versus Gold Coast Titans.
But Beaumont isn’t just thinking about the rugby – he’s planning a full-blown adventure for players and fans.
The outspoken Leigh owner insists the trip will be unlike anything else seen in the sport, combining hard work on the field with big off-field celebrations.
And he also previously hinted the Vegas experience could help lure new signings to the club, as he confirmed star forward Robbie Mulhern will be among those leaving at the end of the season.
“I leave the rugby side up to the coaches – but one thing about my club, it’s always a party. It doesn’t have to be in Vegas,” Beaumont told BBC Radio Manchester.
“We work hard and we play harder. When we do our warm-weather camp, we have a break within it where we go and do things right.
“It’s [Vegas plans] already been booked – we’ll go via New York and the lads will have a party on the first night in New York.
“Everyone will be eager and keen to have fun. When we land in Vegas, we’ll be ultra professional, but it’ll be after a party.
“Believe me, when the rugby and the talking on the pitch is done, the players will do their talking and creating fun with me after it that night and the day after.
“I will make it something different than any team has done from a player point of view and a fan point of view.”
